photography around the village Stammheim in lower Franconia, Germany
the photos presented on this website document the landscape around the village through the seasons
in todays modern times the world is driven by efficiency, transparency, acceleration and information that does not create any narrative – resonance gets lost
this blog is supposed to create simple beauty that stands against any commerce, work or usefulness
studium vs. punctum
how do you decipher and look deeply into photography when you scroll through hundreds of pictures in the inernet ?
Roland Barthes introduced two concepts that make a photographic image stand out in his book Camera Lucida. These concepts offer an access to interpretation.
studium is the element that creates interest in a photographic image
punctum is an element that jumps out at the viewer within a photograph. it may exist next to studium, but disturbs – it creates something that rises from the scene and unintentionally fills the whole image
poetry
the pictures are presented with poems – creating associations for the reader
poems come originally in native language – the translations are done by me
